About — brian wertheim

Brian Wertheim (b. 1989) is an American photographer, director, writer, and musician from Los Angeles. His practice is concerned with themes of alienation while drawing further upon the traditions of documentary fiction and neorealism.

He is currently working on a first photobook, NOSTOS, comprised of a family trip in 2025 through the Levant to Egypt, to serve as a preamble to future photobook offerings.

His short non-fiction film, MR SOMEBODY, was an official selection at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival and other Oscar-qualifying film festivals.

Wertheim lives between Los Angeles and his wife’s native Cairo.
